My work is a synthesis of fashion, art, and healing. In my years of playing with yarn, as a knitter and as a weaver and spinner, I have not only experienced and relished playing with texture, but I’ve had the opportunity to experiment with color as well. Color is visible light energy, and light energy is of the spirit. The spiral in my hand logo reflects this creative movement of spirit and inspiration. Color energy nourishes our bodies as well as our minds and spirits. Our energy bodies are comprised of various colors, correlating to the chakras, or energy centers, in the body.
The seven main charkas are tied to the nervous system along the spine, the endocrine system, and various glands. The chakras are also linked to various bodily functions such as breathing and digestion. Our bodies and minds are designed to heal themselves. Our job is to give our systems the optimum conditions for the body to do its healing work. Nourish your spirit with the color you need. Surround yourself with the colors that will sooth your soul as well as your body. Wear specific colors with intention to help you be your best. Have the colors in your home be those which will support your greatest balance and wellbeing.
Here is a basic overview. My source here is from Inger Naess’ Colour Energy , published 1996, Vancouver, B.C. Canada. http://www.colourenergy.com/what-is.html gives more detail with good illustrations.
The seven chakras and their relative colors are, beginning at the base and moving up:
The root chakra is red. Survival, the right to have.
The spleen chakra is orange. Sex, the right to feel.
The solar plexus chakra is yellow. Action, the right to act.
The heart chakra is green. Love, the right to love and be loved.
The throat chakra is blue. Communication, the right to talk and live in truth.
The brow chakra is indigo. Imagination, the right to see.
The crown chakra is violet. Spirituality, the right to know.
Based on this premise, let me weave or knit something for you with the color that will help rebalance your spirit. As we choose colors that best reflect your needs, and as I work to make your piece for you, I will focus on you and your needs. Finding just the right materials, designing the piece, measuring the warp, dressing the loom, weaving the piece, cutting it off the loom, doing the hand finish work, tying knots, twisting fringes, giving it its fulling bath, and sewing on the label, will be done in a meditative mindful manner so that you will feel and know that the piece you receive was made especially for you. We can weave any intention into it you wish.
